The Framework for Effective Instructional Leadership Teams describes key actions of ILTs that effectively ensure that the school community works together to continually improve teaching and learning.

The framework is designed to be a tool that provides guidance so that ILT members can:

  • Develop a vision of what it means to work as a high-performing ILT.
  • Assess and determine strengths, next steps and plans for team improvement.
  • Continually build the capacity of teacher leaders.

Key actions of an instructional leadership team:

  1. Focuses on improvement of teaching and learning schoolwide.
  2. Collaborates to ensure team success.
  3. Develops effective structures and processes to stay focused on teaching and learning.

Note: This is a working document still undergoing development, created as part of CEL's instructional leadership team work with the Florida Association of School Administrators.
